New Points of Interest in the Open World[]

There’s nothing better than expanding and getting bigger. Part of making the world better is to enrich it with big, sweeping changes like the RPG Creature Overhaul–but it’s important not to neglect the smaller, more immersive elements that make it fun to just look around the world.

With the release of Warcraft Reborn, Azeroth received new points of interest, places to explore, and things to see. The November update continues the spirit of that expansion, adding new buildings, enemies, and helpful NPCs to existing locations to further enrich Azeroth’s nostalgic world. You can expect to find new things added to existing locations like more fleshed out buildings or enemies, new NPCs with dialogue that might point you in the direction of a new Point of Interest or Worldforged Item, or even just funny guys saying funny things that hopefully make you crack a smile. Whether it’s big upgrades or small ones, every bit of polish no matter how small is part of Ascension’s commitment to making Azeroth the best it can be.

These additions will gradually be added to ALL LIVE REALMS throughout the month of November and December (2025) when they are polished and ready. Keep an eye out for new things in classic places. You'll see a few examples throughout the article.

Seems like the Goblins are up to something. Let's take it from them! These points of interest will continue to be expanded over time with new content to explore.

New Worldforged RPG Items to Discover[]

Bronzebeard features new LOOTABLE items in the Open World so that you can find valuable, powerful gear while out on an adventure.

RPGitems
  • 1800+ new, unique, HAND-PLACED items to discover in the Open World
  • Ranging from uncommon to epic
  • These can be found in the world as lootable objects or from new events, quests, and more.
You may find a suspicious looking jar in a cave full of spiders.

You may find a suspicious looking jar in a cave full of spiders.

Ascension's Azeroth has over 1800+ lootable items hand-placed in iconic locations throughout Azeroth that you can go find. These are pieces of gear that you can SEE (with your eyes) and LOOT, encouraging you to adventure, explore, and discover powerful gear.\

Go places you’ve never gone! Who knows? You might find a powerful item there. The items are always available, so you won’t have to wait for them to respawn and you can loot them with your party: but you can only loot them once!

These items are hand placed and add to the overall immersion and RPG flavor of the world: they’re not just dropped randomly, they tell a little story to add to Azeroth’s immersive world. For example:

You might explore the wreckage of a beached ship and find its Wheel to use as a shield.

RPGitem3

A forgotten pitch fork left behind by a clumsy farmer

RPGitem4

A strange experiment that this goblin apparently doesn’t mind you taking

RPGitem6

Just what we needed. Grab it and go, before they return... As you journey across Azeroth, you'll be rewarded deeply for keeping your eyes opened and monitoring your environment. You're always just one camp, one hill, one dark cave away from your next best item. Leave no stone unturned!

(New) Worldforged RPG Item Upgrades[]

Worldforged RPG items—found exclusively in the Open World—often come with unique stat combinations or flavorful effects, like a ring that fears enemies or a shield that deals nature damage when struck. Despite their charm, these items were often discarded at end-game in favor of higher-stat gear, leaving them feeling too temporary and underwhelming.

That changes now.

With this update, that repurposed airplane turret you’ve been using as a gun? It’s no longer an afterthought. Grown attached to a quirky item you found? Now you can take it with you—all the way to endgame.

You can now upgrade any Worldforged RPG item using Runes of Ascension. With enough runes, you can rank up your Slayer’s Claymore from a level 5 green into an epic item equal to the strength of any raid you’ve cleared.

  • Cleared Zul’Gurub and defeated Hakkar? Upgrade your item to ZG power.
  • Conquered Blackwing Lair and taken down Nefarian? Boost it to BWL strength.

Your story doesn’t end when you find something cool—it evolves with you.

Upgrading Worldforged RPG Items is really simple:[]

  • Have the item you want to upgrade in your inventory
  • Have the right number of Runes of Ascension
  • Trade both to Nozdormu to upgrade the item

You can now upgrade your Worldforged RPG items up to the level of the final raid boss you’ve defeated. Heroes seeking greater power will need to brave raid encounters and overcome the challenges within.

Progression is sequential—you can’t jump straight from a level 5 sword to a BWL-tier epic. Instead, you’ll need to upgrade it step by step:

  • First to Rare,
  • Then ZG,
  • Then Molten Core,
  • And so on—until it matches the power of the raids you’ve cleared.

This upgrade system makes it easy to take your favorite gear pieces with you into end-game. If you find something iconic or uniquely suited to your build, you can keep it and continue to power it up. All you need are Runes of Ascension.

The best part? Runes of Ascension are earned simply by playing the game your way—whether that’s through:

No matter your playstyle, you’ll earn Runes just by doing what you enjoy. Whether you prefer Hardcore Trials, Open World questing, or dominating in PvP, your path to power is in your hands.

Here is the order of upgrades:[]

Dungeon[]

  • Quality: Rare
  • Defeat: N/A

Zul’Gurub[]

  • Quality: Epic
  • Defeat: Hakkar

Molten Core[]

  • Quality: Epic
  • Defeat: Ragnaros

Blackwing Lair[]

  • Quality: Epic
  • Defeat: Nefarian

Ahn’Qiraj[]

  • Quality: Epic
  • Defeat: Ossirian

Naxxramas[]

  • Quality: Epic
  • Defeat: Kel'Thuzad

As you upgrade your item, it’ll get more stats (obviously). With enough Runes of Ascension, you can bring that item you’ve fallen in love with all the way up with your rising power.

You can preview the fully upgraded version of an item if you possess its basic form, providing clear foresight for gear choices.
