How do I attune for Onyxia's Lair?[]
These are the steps for attuning for Onyxia's Lair in Classic WoW.
Onyxia's quest chain starts off in Burning Steppes from Helendis Riverhorn. He will give you the first quest, Dragonkin Menace. This quest requires the player to travel around Burning Steppes slaying black dragonkin. Although the broodlings are easy to solo, the remaining dragonkin may not be. Black Dragonspawn, Black Wyrmkin, and Black Drake are all elite mobs. It is advised to do this quest as a group for this reason.
The True Masters[]
Helendis Riverhorn will then give you Helendis Riverhorn's Letter, asking you to deliver it to Magistrate Solomon. Claiming that he will know what to do next. Players will need to travel to Redridge Mountains to complete this step.
From here the player will continue to deliver messages to various NPCs around the world. Next NPC being Highlord Bolvar Fordragon, asking for the aid of Stormwind! After speaking to Bolvar he will ask you to speak to Lady Katrana Prestor for advice. Once you have heard her advice, speak again with Highlord Bolvar Fordragon. He will then make you an official deputy of Stormwind and ask you to return to Magistrate Solomon and give him Bolvar's Decree.
Magistrate Solomon distraught at what he reads, instructs you to return to Burning Steppes to talk to Marshal Maxwell now that you are an official deputy of Stormwind.
Maxwell will ask you to travel to the north to speak to Ragged John to learn of Marshal Windsor's fate, then return to him.
Marshal Windsor and Abandoned Hope[]
After talking to Ragged John you will learn that Marshal Windsor was dragged off to the prisons in Blackrock Depths, leaving it up to you and your team to go rescue him! Once inside Blackrock Depths, Marshal Windsor can be found in a prison cell down a corridor on the right side of the dungeon. He will tell you that he has lost all of his data concerning the enemy and to take the bad news back to Marshal Maxwell for the quest Abandoned Hope.
A Crumpled Up Note[]
Once players have completed all of the previous steps, A Crumpled Up Note will be able to drop from any enemy inside of Blackrock Depths. It is recommended to enter the dungeon and simply grind all of the dwarves located in the starting rooms until this item has dropped. Clearing out these dwarves will help during future steps in the quest chain.
After obtaining A Crumpled Up Note players will have to return to Marshal Windsor.
A Shred of Hope[]
After reading the crumpled note Marshal Windsor will give you A Shred of Hope, asking you to receive his lost information being held by General Angerforge and Golem Lord Argelmach. These two bosses are located deep within Blackrock Depths.
Jail Break![]
After returning lost pieces of information Marshal Windsor will decide it is time to bust out of jail to report his findings, giving you the quest Jail Break!. Make sure your party is prepared for this escort quest before accepting it! After accepting the quest the party will be faced with ambushes of enemies as Marshal Windsor gathers up his gear and friends before exiting the dungeon he has been held in for so long! If the escort is done successfully, the players will need to report back to Marshal Maxwell for further instruction.
Stormwind Rendezvous[]
Marshal Maxwell will send you to the gates of Stormwind to talk to meet with Reginald Windsor. He will unveil that Lady Katrana Prestor is actually Onyxia in disguise!
The Great Masquerade[]
The Great Masquerade will require you to march alongside Windsor, leading up to where the disguised Onyxia and Bolvar reside. Once there, Onyxia will reveal her true form, summoning elite dragonkin guards that will need to be fended off with the help of the surrounding NPCs!
The surrounding NPC's that help will tank these elite dragonkin guards till every last one is defeated. Once all the enemies have vanquished, turn in the quest by talking to Highlord Bolvar Fordragon.
The Dragon's Eye[]
Bolvar will give you the quest The Dragon's Eye, asking you to find someone capable of restoring power to Fragment of the Dragon's Eye. The being you seek is a dragonkin disguised as a humanoid named Haleh. She can be found on a mountainside in the southern parts of Winterspring. To get to her players will need to venture deep into the cave of Mazthoril. At the end of this cave will be runes on the floor which will teleport you to Haleh once stepped upon.
Drakefire Amulet[]
Haleh will task you with venturing into upper Blackrock Spire to defeat and retrieve the Blood of the Black Dragon Champion from General Drakkisath. It is recommended to use 10 players to successfully complete this dungeon.
After the blood is retrieved, return to Haleh once more to complete the quest chain and finally receive your Drakefire Amulet. This necklace will have to be carried with you anytime a player wishes to enter Onyxia's Lair.
