What are the best TBC WoW consumables and crafted items?[]

The best craftable items and consumables in WoW require materials exclusively obtained in the High-Risk open world. All new permanent item enhancements have been added to Leatherworking, Tailoring, Engineering, Jewelcrafting and Blacksmithing. Enchanters have new powerful weapon enchants. Alchemists can create powerful new Flasks and Cooks can prepare all new cooking recipes offering powerful buffs.

Where do I obtain new crafting materials in TBC WoW?[]

  1. Step 1 is to ensure you are in High-Risk.
    1. Be sure to read the guide of Fel Commutation before venturing into High-Risk.
    2. Switching to High-Risk (and back to No-Risk)
  2. Check out the Zone Guides below to see how to obtain the specific materials you are seeking.
  3. If your goal is to farm, not murder, then you will obtain significantly more High-Risk Materials by activating For The Horde! or For the Alliance! found in the general tab of your spell book.

For the Horde! & For the Alliance![]

  • Declare your loyalty to your faction!
    • Members of your faction can be certain you will not betray them while For the Horde/Alliance is active.
    • Allows for safety in numbers and grouping without gimping your ability to farm effectively.
    • Completely disables your ability to cast Criminal Intent for 3 days.
  • Access to exclusive High-Risk quests, found on the War Herald in Shattrath City or various zone towns.
  • Significantly increases your chance to find High-Risk Materials from creatures, skinning and resource nodes.
    • This does not affect Bloodforged drop chances.
    • This does not affect Beast Nests.
    • This does not affect Hidden Caches or Crow's Cache.
  • This spell is found in the General Tab of your Spellbook.

You will automatically find For the Alliance! or For the Horde! in the general tab of your spellbook based on your faction. These spells will allow you to declare loyalty to your faction, immediately increases your reputation with the Law, disabling Criminal Intent for 3 days and significantly increasing your chances to find High-Risk Materials in the world. This loot bonus does not affect chances to find Bloodforged gear.

High Risk in TBC WoW[]

High risk is now split into 3 different tiers that dictate the materials available and the rewards or losses from PvP.

High risk tier overview

Tier 1 Zones[]

Tier 1 Zones are considered entry level PvP zones, you will only drop a few items from your bags and can't drop equipped items (or their gold equivalent).

Tier 1

Tier 1 zones will also have event nodes that will drop Twisted materials for High Risk crafting, which you can find further below.

Tier 2 Zones[]

Tier 2 zones serve as a entry into higher stakes PvP, you will drop items from your bags as well as equipped gear unless you Fel Com it in which case you will drop gold instead.

Tier 2

Tier 2 zone will also have event nodes that can drop Dread materials for High Risk Crafting and Heroic Bloodforged gear, which you can find further below.

Tier 3 Zone[]

Tier 3 zones are for those that are looking for the most high stakes PvP battles, in addition to dropping items from bags and equipped gear pieces, you will drop an extra piece of gear when you die in this zone or more Fel Com gold.

Tier 3 v2

Tier 2 zone will also have event nodes that can drop Void materials for High Risk Crafting and Heroic Bloodforged gear, which you can find further below.

High Risk Event Nodes[]

Before talking about the materials that will drop from each zone, lets first talk about the event nodes. These nodes that you will find on your map when High Risk is active will tell you what material type can drop from the mobs in that area. While it is possible to get the materials from these areas while the event is not active it is a lot lower of a chance.

Deactive node

Active node

To active one of these nodes you will need a Keeper's Scroll: High Risk Event, which can be obtained via the War Herald by completing dailies for Lesser Profane Essence, the Auction House or on the store at Ascension.gg. It is highly recommended you farm in event nodes while this effect is up as you will gain a lot more materials but also run the risk of attracting attention from those that want what you have.

Sanguine Workbench[]

Sanguine Workbenches are where you will craft the materials into their next stages, starting from parts all the way up to full crafted items. The benches currently in the game are found in Stormwind and Orgrimmar.

Nether Materials can be found in any of the zones and primarily come from gathering nodes or the cloth can come from humanoids.

Crafting materials at the Sanguine Workbench will also reward Marks of War.
